SKYWARD ACADEMY was created to address the academic, social, and
independent living skills of students on the autism spectrum and/or with
other learning issues. Our goal is to help each student develop their
academic and life skills in preparation for adult life. Our main belief
is in the unique abilities and differences of each student. At Skyward,
we strive to create a learning environment that challenges each student
to improve academic, social, communication, and life skills.
SKYWARD ACADEMY develops an individualized program schedule for each
student based on their unique needs. No two students follows the exact
same program! Our instruction and curricula are customized to meet the
individual needs of students while also incorporating state academic
standards. Program components include academic instruction,
behavior management strategies, life skills instruction, community
outings, speech, and occupational therapy services. Enrichment classes
such as art and music are also available. Skyward students have
several options for obtaining a high school diploma. A vocational
component is also available, and opportunities exist with other
vocational programs such as The Oaks, Project Search, and more.
SKYWARD ACADEMY began as a tutoring program and then became a school
created to address an unmet need. The goal was to create a personalized
educational program for students on the autism spectrum and/or with
other learning disabilities who needed intensive academic instruction
combined with life skills instruction, in a supportive environment that
would allow them to reach their fullest potential. Skyward is currently
being chartered as a non-public school by the state of Ohio.
